To use the feature, employees must select ‘Company Knowledge’ before asking questions in a chat. The system will then search across connected applications that have been enabled by company administrators. For Enterprise and Education plans, administrators must first enable specific connectors before employees can use the feature.

OpenAI states that data protection measures include industry-standard encryption and that the company does not train its models on customer data by default. The feature is currently available to all subscribers of the Business, Enterprise, and Education plans, provided their organisation has enabled at least one connected application. The new feature works with various business tools, including Slack, Google Drive, SharePoint, GitHub, and Asana. According to OpenAI, the system respects existing user permissions, meaning employees can only access information they’re already authorised to view within their organisation. Responses include citations linking back to original sources for verification.
